College Admission?

I’m a freshman in High School and I was wondering if it’s too early to start considering college admission…? If not, what are some things I should be doing to prepare?

You can start thinking about it, but I wouldn’t get too worried for a year or two yet.
The main thing you can do now is keep your grades up and stay active in extracurricular activities, since admissions officers look at those things.
If you’ve never taken the SAT or ACT, you might want to find some way to try it out for practice. Your high school counselor might know ways for you to do it.
Explore your career options through summer camps and job shadowing to help you narrow down what careers and majors you might be interested in (and therefore what colleges will have the programs you want.) There might actually be camps held at a college that you can go to and you could get a chance to experience life in a dorm for a week or two. See if your mom or dad is willing to take you on an informal trip to their alma mater, just so you can look at the student union, bookstore and all that. You don’t have to even let the admissions office know you’re there.
Whatever you do, don’t start panicking about where you’re going to wind up going to college. The best words of advice anyone ever gave to me is that there is no perfect college for any one person. You just have to go some place that feels right to you, without worrying if it’s the “right” decision or not.

Yes it is way too early. Maybe you should start taking SAT prep classes. Maybe even take some college visits. Keep your grades up.

Now is the time to plan because you need to pick your classes and make sure you meet the requirements for college admission (foriegn language, math, english). You also need to balance your course load with extra-curricular activities and volunteer work. Colleges also look at AP classes as an advantage, even if your overall GPA is not as high as some others without the AP classes. Good luck and congratulations for thinking ahead!
