Sometimes writing something unexpected like that can work in your favor. My second thought was to ask you, why do you want to major in psychology? If this major means anything to you, then you must have some aspect of the human condition that you feel specifically interested in. Like if you were into war, for example, you can talk about the solders and the psychological effects of being a war zone where your friend could be blown up at any moment. Of if you were more interested in child psychology, you might write about the effects that modern society (video games, the internet, a rush to treat our children like adults) can have on them. Remember that the real topic of every college essay is you.
