Excactly How Important Are Extracurriculars To College Admission?

I’m going to be applying to the UC system this year. I’ve only been in one club but I’ve done some community service, and i’m joining cross country this season. Will it really hurt me that much if I’m not super involved at school?

Its very important for college admission. They want a collection of students who are not just focused on academics. In fact most schools would like for you to join in on some extracurricular activities they may offer.
In other words think of it like this. A baseball coach wants someone who not only can hit, but catch as well (Well Rounded)

I recon a well written personal statement is better than the stuff you could cram on there, the most important thing would be grades. I applied with very little extra stuff but got offers from all my app’s.

Doing a lot in one group is more important than being in many, community service is also great. They look at your grades first though.
