When you’re a senior, when do you start sending college application letters ? (what month ?)
About how many different universities do you send your application letters to ?
When do you usually get the admission letters ? (june, july, august? or before ?)
I’d like to know that cuz I’m french and it doesn’t work the same here.
Ok so heres the whole college process in a nutshell for students in the United States
You have two options. You can apply to a school using early decision/action, or you can apply to a school through regular decision.
If you are applying early to a school, then you would start on your application during September/October, and turn it in usually the 1st of November
If you are applying regular, then you would complete the application during the months of November/December, and send it in the 1st of January.
You apply to as many universities that you feel comfortable attending. The average number nowadays is about 7-9 applications. But you can do as little or as much as you feel like. It all depends on what you think your chances of getting into one of the schools are.
If you apply early, you will get the admission letter sometime during mid December or early January.
If you are regular then it can range from late March to early May. Since your international, I would say around Late April.
For more help I would google college confidential and go to the site. sign up for an account and ask your question on that site. There are many more people that can give you depth detail about the process. Also people that can rate your chances for admission into the schools you choose.
I hope this helped and I wish you the best of luck during the college process.
Her we fill out application forms-doing it on line is best. You then have to send in an essay, your transcripts and teacher recommendation letters.
You can always find the application on line at the colleges web site. Once they have all information needed, you will get an acceptance or rejection letter back.
For many college’s the deadline was Jan.1st for Fall 2009 starts. (college classes start mid to late August) Some colleges have Feb.1 and March 1 deadlines.
My daughter applied to four schools mid December. We have already heard back from one of them.
If you are an international student- go to the colleges web site, go to admissions, then to international students. All information about applications, deadlines and requirements will be there. You can always email the admissions office with questions.
I got to disagree with JohnK. Most student send to 3 or 4 colleges. An application fee is anywhere from $25-70. Sending in 8 can really cost. My daughter is a senior and I don’t know of any of her friends who are applying to more than 5 colleges.
