Being a class XI student, I don’t understand this term ‘cutoff’. The cutoff for Delhi University is soon going to be out. Somebody please explain the meaning of this term.
Thanks in advance.

Actually, all these answers are correct. Cutoff differs from university to university. Cutoff percentage is the percent of applicants who applied but did not make the cutoff. However, my university said their cutoff was a date, mostly because my school doesn’t have a set number of students each year and doesn’t require SAT scores…. but I’d contact the school you’re interested in to find out exactly what they mean by cutoff.

Well anyone could be right but here i am refering to my country Singapore. Normally ‘cutoff ‘ refers to the dateline. You said it is soon going to be out and i think it is refering to the cutoff date. So you better send in your application before the date is due! If you submit your application after the ‘cutoff ‘ date most probabaly your application will not be process. i hope this info helps.

cutoff..the university accepts only a number if students. lets say 2000. the 2001st applicant will not be accepted anymore because it is more than tha university can handle and manage. does it make sense to you? i think that’s what it is

It also could refer to test scores or something of that sort. Nobody will get into the university if they did not score higher than the cutoff score. Good luck!
