How Is A Gpa For Admission To A University From A Community College Looked At?

Say the admissive GPA for a university is a 2.0…If I am a transfer student from a community college, is that GPA they are looking for taken from ONLY the transferrable credits or is that GPA taken from your overall GPA that you have earned from your entire community college career?

Here’s what the University of California has to say about that:
“The student’s grade point average in all transferable courses.”
    Taken from : http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/ad…
The University of Washington, on the other hand, doesn’t specify that on their transfer admissions page(s) – they just indicate an overall GPA of 2.5 http://futurestudents.wsu.edu/admission/…
So. Best thing is to check with the college website first and then if it isn’t clear (and I must admit, I looked at several college websites that weren’t clear about this), then contact someone from the admissions office to get clarification. Its a good question!

Overall GPA- that’s what they are looking at.
Say you take a developmental course and you receive a C. Even though its not transferred its still calculated in your GPA.

I believe its ALL of your attempted college courses EXCLUDING the ones that are developmental courses.

  4. John says:

Your cumulative GPA from all tranferaable courses completed.

  5. Tav says:

Your GPA is from all the courses you have taken at the community college.
