Depending on which college you apply to, some require you to take a certain # of SAT Subjects, some suggest them, and some just don’t care.
IF you apply to a college that cares about or requires them:
Make sure you take the appropriate # of tests to meet the requirement, and make sure that you “pass” them.
Personally, I would define “passing” on a SAT Subject test as either above 500 or above 600. There might be a set score your college will require, though.
As for what you should do to “pass,” you just need to study, study, study! Also, it helps if you are taking the class that corresponds to the test. DO NOT take, for example, the Chemistry SAT Subject test if you are a senior that took Chemistry sophomore year!!!

the thing with the SAT II subject tests are that they are NOT mandatory.
If you do well in them, by all means, send them to the colleges you are applying to.
If you really bomb them, you aren’t obligated to send them to anyone but yourself. So no one well ever know :]
